POOLE HARBOUR

50.72° N  001.99° W

Poole Harbour is a beautiful Dorset haven protected by the Purbeck Hills.  Dotted with forested private islands, it is one of the largest natural harbours in the world.  In fact, it is a drowned valley formed at the end of the last ice age.

The harbour is fed by a number of rivers and is open to the sea through a fast-flowing narrow channel at Sandbanks.

Poole town, Lilliput and Sandbanks are on the eastern side of the harbour where yacht clubs, marinas, boatyards, slipways and other facilities abound.  The western side is wooded and rural with hills and valleys nearly down to the water.

There are many smart bars and restaurants along the Town Quay and the streets behind, plus the spectacle of Sunseeker yachts being built and finished on the opposite wharf.

Visit a hidden gem in The Bankes Arms at Studland – anchor in Studland Bay and climb the hill or take the chain ferry from Sandbanks and walk along the beach and through the sand dunes.

If the weather's bad, carry the tide up the River Frome for a nice lunch on Wareham Quay.

We offer a full range of marine surveyor services for boat buyers, owners and sellers in around Poole, Sandbanks and Wareham.  Prepurchase condition surveys, insurance renewal surveys, market valuations, accompanied boat viewings, damage assessment, repair scrutiny, sea trials in the western Solent approaches and much more.

However we can help you, you’ll always receive friendly and professional service to the highest industry standards.  We’re affiliated to the Yacht Designers and Surveyors Association (YDSA) and British Marine Surveyors Europe (BMSE), qualified, experienced, fully licenced and insured.

Our reports are written in plain language and easy to understand whether you are new to boating or an experienced owner and voyager.  Clear communication and explanation of complete and crucial information is our mission.

Let us help you find the perfect boat, check her condition, know her value or discover her sea-keeping qualities.
